Surat: The first edition of ‘Matrika Ka Raja’ Ganesh Mahotsav, organised by Matrika Foundation Trust in Pal, Surat, concluded with a strong message of environmental conservation and social service. The pandal, spread across around 3,000 sq. ft. at an SMC plot in the lane near Nayara Petrol Pump, opposite Sukrit Bungalows, was designed on a ‘Vrindavan’ theme.
Keeping environmental protection in mind, thermocol and POP were not used anywhere in the event. The pandal decoration featured more than 500 live plants. After the conclusion of the Ganesh festival, these plants are being used for plantation activities in Pal, Adajan and Ichhapore. The trust has also taken a pledge to plant more than 5,000 trees in collaboration with the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

10-Day Service Campaign
Along with religious celebrations, the Matrika Foundation Trust organised several social service activities throughout the 10-day Ganesh festival. Free blood tests were conducted daily for all 10 days, while a blood donation camp was also organised.
A cancer specialist doctor provided visitors with information and guidance related to cancer. On Sunday, a free eye and dental check-up camp was organised, where specialist surgeons conducted examinations and provided guidance regarding various surgical procedures. The trust has also coordinated with associated doctors to provide treatment at concessional rates to patients in need in the future.

Nutrition Kits for Anganwadi Children
Throughout the year, the Matrika Foundation Trust distributes nutrition kits and steel glasses to children at Anganwadi centres. The trust also works for the welfare of orphaned children and senior citizens and conducts awareness campaigns among youth to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
According to the trust, the first edition of ‘Matrika Ka Raja’ aimed to combine devotion to Lord Ganesha with environmental conservation, healthcare services and social responsibility, making the festival a platform for both celebration and community service.
