Surat: The Women Crime Prevention Branch and Udhna Zone-2 Police conducted a cyber crime awareness programme for students at Sunrise School and Leo School of Science.
The session was addressed by DCP Kanan Desai of Surat City Police Zone-2 and ACP Mini Joseph of the Women Cell, who guided students on responsible behaviour, cyber safety and the importance of approaching the police without fear.
Interacting with the students, DCP Kanan Desai said that children should not be afraid of the police, as the police are there to serve and protect the public.
She also spoke about the importance of responsibility, discipline and respecting time. Drawing a simple example from everyday family life, she explained that just as a mother understands her responsibilities and begins her day early to fulfil them, students too must recognise and fulfil their own responsibilities. She said that a child who values time, becomes responsible and follows discipline is more likely to succeed in achieving his or her goals.
Students were also cautioned that even an offence committed knowingly or unknowingly can have serious consequences later in life.
ACP Mini Joseph delivered a detailed presentation explaining what constitutes bullying, how people can become victims of blackmail, ways to protect oneself from digital arrest scams, and the precautions students should take while using mobile phones and social media.
