Sarvajanik University Celebrates 5 Years of Shaping Futures

Surat : Sarvajanik University will celebrate its 5th Foundation Year with a month-long series of academic, cultural, environmental, and community engagement activities from 1st June to 30th June 2026 under the theme “Celebrating 5 Years of Shaping Futures.”

Established on 1st June 2021 by the 114-year-old philanthropic Sarvajanik Education Society, Sarvajanik University marks the successful completion of five years of its journey towards academic excellence, innovation, and societal development. Guided by its vision, “Journey Towards an Enlightened Society,” and driven by the values of Inclusive, Integrated, and Innovative education, the University continues to provide accessible and quality higher education while fostering research, skill development, innovation, and holistic growth.

Over the past five years, Sarvajanik University has steadily expanded its academic ecosystem and strengthened its reputation through the GSIRF-ranked achievements of its constituent institutes. From offering 48 programmes at the time of establishment, the University now offers 65 programmes across diverse disciplines. Several contemporary and industry-oriented programmes have been introduced, including B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Post Graduate Diploma in Financial and Banking Services (PGDFBS), Integrated MCA (IMCA), M.Sc. Clinical Embryology, LL.M., and various multidisciplinary certificate courses.

Further strengthening its academic portfolio, the University has recently established the Sarvajanik College of Liberal Arts and introduced new undergraduate programmes of B.A. (Psychology) and B.A. (Economics), with minor specializations in Statistics, Mass Communication, Psychology, and Economics.

The University has also focused significantly on strengthening its academic infrastructure and student ecosystem through modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, smart learning facilities, and student-centric campus amenities, thereby creating an environment that attracts and nurtures talented educators, administrators, and students alike. As part of its social outreach initiatives, the University has also adopted a vocational training centre for physically and mentally challenged individuals. There are other Vocational Training Centres that provides industry-oriented skill development programs for youth. Under the SES Central Library has been set up, with a collection of over 3 lakh books and digital resources, to serve as a valuable knowledge hub for students across all disciplines.

The Foundation Year celebrations reflect the visionary leadership and guidance of Shri Ashish Vakil, President, Sarvajanik University; Dr. Kiran Pandya, Provost, Sarvajanik University; and Prof. Persi Engineer, First Provost and Convener of the Foundation Day celebrations.

The celebrations have commenced on 1st June 2026 with a ceremonial cake-cutting in the presence of dignitaries, followed by a special Foundation Flagship Lecture Series on the theme “Future of Education in Society.” The keynote speaker for the occasion was the eminent personality from academia and public life, Prof. Pankaj Chandra, Provost at Ahmedabad University.

As part of the celebrations, the University will also host “SU SPARK – 5×5: Ideas Worth Spreading,” featuring impactful short talks by students, faculty members, and alumni on themes such as innovation, resilience, creativity, technology, and community impact.

The month-long celebration calendar will further include blood donation camps, health check-up drives, cleanliness and awareness campaigns, and rural outreach initiatives aimed at promoting social responsibility and community engagement.

The celebrations will conclude on 30th June 2026 with a Gratitude & Recognition Ceremony honouring donors, past presidents, founding members, faculty members, and staff for their invaluable contributions towards the growth and development of Sarvajanik University. The concluding event will also feature scholarship announcements, awards, cultural performances, and the screening of a special film showcasing the University’s five-year journey.

On the occasion, Shri Ashish Vakil, Chairman, Sarvajanik Education Society and President, Sarvajanik University, and Dr. Kiran Pandya, Provost, Sarvajanik University, stated that the University remains committed to building an institution that not only imparts education, but also shapes character, inspires innovation, and contributes meaningfully to society and the nation.
